The Mind Behind the Standard

G. D. Turner Sr., professionally known as Chef G, is an award-winning Certified Executive Chef with over 16 years of executive catering experience and more than a decade of culinary consulting expertise.

​

Born and raised in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood, Chef G discovered his passion for cuisine at an early age at his mother’s kitchen table. What began as curiosity evolved into discipline, and that discipline became a career built on excellence.

​

By the age of 14, he was already working in professional kitchens, steadily advancing from prep cook to executive leadership through commitment, precision, and relentless refinement.

Executive Leadership Experience

Chef G has held executive-level culinary positions at some of Chicago’s most respected hospitality institutions, including:

• The Drake Hotel – Executive Banquet Chef
• Macy’s Signature Kitchen – Executive Chef
• The Study at University of Chicago Hotel – Executive Chef
• Briar Ridge Country Club – Executive Chef
• SSP America – Lead Culinary Executive for the redevelopment of Midway Airport’s food concourse

 

These roles shaped his expertise in large-scale banquet operations, corporate hospitality, menu development, and operational leadership.

Today, Chef G serves as Director of Operations and Culinary Strategist for Rendezvous Culinary Group, delivering executive catering, private chef experiences, and culinary consulting throughout Chicago and Northwest Indiana.
